Pink::Sleeve Kitties (I'm giving away 2!)

pink

For pink and red Saturday I'm a day late and only have some pink to show for it. This is my sugar bowl, in all its pink, vintage glory.

How is everyone doing on use what you have month? Are you hanging? I think the hardest thing for me to forgo is the thrift shopping. Thrift shopping is  such a part of my day to day life. Even though I look for all kinds of things when I go, it is just too tempting to not check out the wool sweaters, linens and other textiles for crafting with!! So I'm steering clear. I'm seeing it as a good discipline for me. All I have to do is look at my out-of-control-pile of thrifted things and 'use what you have' makes a lot of sense once again!

So, back to using what I have, here is my latest creation---sleeve kitties.

A couple of posts back, I showed you this bag that I made from a thrifted knit sweater. I was coo-coo about the stripes and colors and after the bag was finished, I had 2 long stripey sleeves that needed to be made into something. Several thoughts went through my mind, but I settled on these kitties. I'm a cat lover and the most lovable fur ball you will ever meet lives in my home.  The kitties have button eyes, floss mustaches whiskers and each with a different little something---a bell collar, a fish necklace, a daisy or a posie. I stuffed them with poly-fill and rice, so they have a bit of a beanbag feel to them. The rice also helps them stand up.

I want to do  something fun and to practice some random acts of kindness like Autum has been doing. I want to give away the twin sisters.

Like Blair did in celebration of her 100th post, leave a comment here and tomorrow night (Monday 10th) at 8:00 pm, (pacific standard time) I will draw 2 names from the comments and send them each a sleeve kitty..just because!

Of the other two, one will be going to a certain birthday girl , and the other might just be staying here with me. Although, I'm really hoping to earn a little extra cash too, so you might see it for sale--maybe. I'm sure there will be more of these in the future, I have a lot of sleeves :)

Your sleeve kitties are great! Your resourceful ideas using what you find always inspire me. I am a big fan of your crafting.

I can't believe it, I *just* saved two sleeves last night that I was going to make into bunnies (I've got Easter on the brain)! And here I thought I was being clever, but you already did it and yours are too too cute.

They're so cute!

What a fabulous idea!

Ooh, ooh, pick me! I have the TWO cutest kitties in the world living with me (though one of them thinks he's a dog). I love the sleeve kitties!!

now that is having something up your sleeve!!

Your kitties are gorgeous! You can be proud of yourself for keeping away from the thrift shops.

Toni, I am constantly in awe of you!!! They are so bloomin' cute! Too much, just too much!

One of your Kitties would find a very loving home over here!My girls and I are big cat lovers! We are on the lookout for a real kitten for Maisies birthday in May to join our 2 old girls Jazz (18) and Daisy(13) and our handsome young man Sampson (1)!

They're cute!
(it's my birthday on the 10th ;))

What a perfect thing for Use What You Have --taking leftover sleeves and trying to find a use for them. And the use you found is supercute!

Have you used rice much in softies? Does it stand the test of time? It is so humid here, I wonder...

Too cute. Must go cut the sleeves off something immediately.

What cute kitties! I can't believe how generous & giving everyone is in the "blogging community"! So fun.

I adore the sleeve kitties. I would love to give one a home. As far as use what you have month, it has been easier for me than I imagined. I'm finding out it is good for my wallet too.

Oh, my gosh, those are too cute!!!!! *goes craft supply shopping in her closet (Where is that stripey sweater???)*

Aww, I really love those little sisters! They are just too cute! Great work using what you have!

They are adorable! I'm glad you posted a link to your blog... I'll be back to visit more ;)

Love them!

Awesome way to use what you have! Very cute kitties. And way to say away from those tempting thrift stores this month - that's hard to do!

these are the cutest kitties Ive seen in a bit, besides my own of course and Ive had 7 in 5 months lol. I love em. gunna have to try and make me one if I dont win one. haha

very sweet! and those are kitties i wouldn't be allergic to!

OOOO...this is fun! I think the kitties are a very sweet idea..so cute! What a bonus for the ones who "win"!

Your kitties are so cute! I loved the bag you made the other day too - what a great idea!
I'm struggling a bit with "use what you have," mostly because I have a strong sewing urge right now, and not very much fabric in my stash. It's also killing me not to go to the dollar store - my favorite haunt! But I will stay strong!

Those a lovely. I wouldnt mind having them at my house keeping my Toby (cat) company. :*)

I have managed to go to the dollar store and only buy what i went for. i do have a problem though. going to chicago for a conference the end of the month - what am i going to do about picking up ribbon or fabric as a souvenier of the trip.

those kitties are great - i am sure that almond and mommy would love them. we have three of the real live purring variety and they are so sweet.

thank you for the use what you have challenge. i really though it would be a drag, but it has actually spurred my creativity in many ways.

thanks so much.

Usually I'm too late, but I think I made it in time to at least have my comment added.
Very cute indeed.
