WIP Friday

(I think this might be the most pictures I've ever posted in one post!)

For Fiona's Work In Progress Friday  I'm posting some pics. of the wedding quilt. I suppose this will be the subject of many WIP Fridays to come :) Well, here it is. My second quilt ever. Vanessa requested these colors, but I choose the fabric and it will be a surprise.  All of the blocks are arranged on the living-room floor in a pattern that looks nice to me. After these photos where taken I accomplished sewing 5 out of 7 rows together. Now for today the other 2, then attaching all the rows for a completed quilt top. I had to also show you a picture of Noah getting inspired to make a quilt too. Cutie-pie.

Yesterday afternoon was also full of yet more wedding preparations. I joined Vanessa along with a few friends and family to help assemble the invitations. Yep, we made the invitations. She will tell you that she has not one creative bone in her body and credits me with the design. But really, I just gave her ideas and she chose what she liked. Can you tell by now that she likes pink? :) This is how the afternoon started at her house....

And this is the lovely result of our hard work...

Can you see the pretty iridescent dots on the vellum? Love that. Here is the photo underneath...

I had one of those hit-you-like-a-brick-revelations while I was making these...my son is getting married. All of sudden I felt a little teary, and many memories started flowing through my mind of when he was just a wee thing. Man. How time flies. Being a parent is full of bitter-sweet moments. And quite honestly, I have a hard time letting go of my babies. Time to change the subject..sniff.

Lastly, for WIP Friday, three piles of fabric waiting to become clothespins aprons, and someones sweet bunny drawing is beginning to come to life. Have a lovely weekend friends!

That is a wonderful photograph and the invitations are lovely! And I love your quilt - it's beautiful. I know what you mean about bittersweet moments. Sometimes I can't even stand to look back over old photos of my daughter as a baby.

The invitations are beautiful. When I was planning my wedding 21 years ago. I decided I wanted birdseed roses. My lovely mother in law and I spent weeks sewing little tubes of satin in white pink and burgundy making flowers, adding leaves, and pouring birdseed in them. We had a great time and I will always have fond memories of that.

Started the special relationship between us in a wonderful way.

The quilt is really beautiful. I've been piecing together a blue patchwork and I know how it is getting all those pieces in the right spots. Lovely job.

So much to comment on! First the quilt is beautiful. That will be such a special gift and speaking of beautiful, the invitations are amazing. You could never have bought anything so pretty. I love the picture of the gorgeous couple. Noah is precious working alongside Mom :)

Aww... what a sweet post! So much to love.

Thanks for sharing all the photos. After all a picture tells a thousand words, happy ones in this case :)

(sniff)...this made me cry too! for happiness of coarse, and that bittersweet thing; it is hard to let them go. the quilt is coming along so nicely, i like the random placement of the blocks. and i love those invitations, especially the photo. what a beautiful couple they are!

Wonderful pictures! I believe that quilt is going to be lovely. Your soon-to-be daughter-in-law is lucky, I made all the invitations myself when I was planning my wedding and now that I read your post I should have asked someone for some help!

Oh Toni ~ I started getting teary reading this post, even before you talked about your revealation moment...
It's a tiny bit bittersweet. But only for a moment.
You have so many more beautiful moments ahead, to look forward too...
Hugs.

The quilt is coming out beautiful - and it's going to be a fantastic wedding present!
Wow. Your son is getting married. I'm stilling having kittens just thinking about my kids taking the bus alone some day. Wow. What is it they say, you aren't losing a son, you're being given a daughter (in law).
The invitations look fantastic, too. And your little Noah, he shold have his own blog soon :)

The quilt looks really beautiful, I love the darks mixed in with the pinks. You moving right along! Funny how many of those "hit me like a brick" moments you have when children come into your life. Guess I'm in for many years of that. They make such a cute happy couple.

Lovely wedding invites, what a sweet couple, i will be pretty teary eyed myself when my day comes too!

What a handsome couple! My husband and I met when we were their age. We fell madly in love and have been together for 22 years. I wish them both as much happiness. The quilt is just lovely!

The quilt WOWSA! Gorgeous Ms T* and how special it will be for them for many years to come! Noah as always a HONEY CHILD! and the invitations photo of the couple and your words ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.....the shtuff of this life..hang in there friend! xoxo

You know I appreciate every day of my son and daughters life. They are 4 & 6 and sometimes I'll just stare at them (when they don't see catch me watching them) and try to engrave that moment into my memory. I still get weepy at my 6 year old's toddler photos. Congrats on your son's soon to be marriage.

How Wonderful THat ever member of the family is taking part in creating all things for the wedding celebration.
What a Joy * Inspiration!
I especially love seeing your son working on his quilt =)

Very nice quilt and wonderful invitations as well! Your son and his fiance look so happy together in the picture. I agree, you look too young to have a son getting married. :) I can't wait to see the bunny made into a stuffy that Noah drew!
