i guess i'm weird too
my long time computer friend, amy , has tagged me for this. i don't usually do these, but seeing as i have had no time at all to make anything and post about that...here are 6 weird things about me:
1. whenever i hear a baby cry in public i have an intense desire to find out why and to make things right. if it is a new born crying, i can barely contain myself. (i do though, mind you. that would be really obnoxious if i didn't)
2. for my 40th birthday i pierced my nose. i was too chicken to do it sooner. (i have always loved the way a tiny rhinestone looks there.) after 2 months of it not healing properly i took it out and gave up. now that i'm 41, only one year later-- i think i'm too old to try again. it would be some sort of mid-life crisis thing i think.
3. the very first thing i do in the morning, before anything, is open the blinds in the living room. dark rooms depress me and i must let in as much light as possible as soon as possible!
4.certain sounds--such as nails on a chalkboard--drive me crazy. i can have chills from it hours after it has stopped.
5.fluffy baby penguins can almost make me faint with their cuteness. i'm serious. i have some kind of physical sensation when i see them--i guess it's a cuteness-overload.
6.sometimes i like to shock my kids and bust out in spontaneous song--something so random and crazy that i just make up. i love the look on their face.
boy, i share more about myself on this blog then i ever dreamed i would.

My goodness, Toni! I've wanted a pierced nose too, but I am still too chicken. Did you pierce it YOURSELF??? eeks!
And your #6 about bursting out in spontaneous random singing for the brood... I DO THE SAME THING! (Sometimes I find myself in an empty room afterwards.)

I keep reading this meme everywhere and thinking, "oh, that's not weird." Maybe we're all weird or normal and just don't know it.

Haha! I just cracked about you busting into song. I should try that.

I recently found your blog through my usual crafty blog reading time and I'm so happy to be here.
I also, break into songs that I make up, loudly and enthusiastically of course, and often frighten my husband and dog. I'm sure it'll have the same affect on my children when I have them. I also found out the my Grandmother does the same thing. It's skipped generations. Maybe you have a song singing relative out there, too. ;)

Oh my....you are beautiful!
I love the piercing. You should do it again.

Oh, I have that baby thing too... and the penguins?! How adorable are those little guys?!

You should try singing out loud AND dancing...that really gets the kids to leave the room with groans of "mum...you're soooo embarrassing! Love your blog Toni!

i also will burst out in song from time to time...but i love what di has suggested! throwing in a little jig will really send them over the edge.
so, this nose piercing...is the pic from when it was pierced and before you gave up on it or is there some 'fake' nose piercing stuff that i'm not aware of. strangely, this is something that i've been pondering to do. eek!

That is a beautiful photo. And that little piercing looks great. #3 is not at all weird. Sometimes I even open them before I go to sleep so that it is light when I come downstairs. And neither is #6. But have you ever done that accidentally in the grocery store? :) My weirdness I guess.

thank you for sharing your weirdness with us! I so enjoyed reading your list. :)

I do the crying baby thing especially at mums and tots groups.I have to sit on my hands and button my lips. What I think is weird is that you think your 41! You are obviously so much younger xxx

LOVE the piercing! You ought to consider giving it another go! So fun learning about your weird ways! We are all weird, wild & crazy in our own little ways...

I pierced my nose in college. It took about 6 months for it to stop being sensitive. At first, it was really frustrating. I pierced it in the spring, and I love to swim, so I'm sure swimming in the summer didn't help it heal any faster. It was worth the wait ... I loved it once it stopped swelling or breaking out! Then, I moved to Japan and took it out so my students would stop pointing and asking if it hurt every day ... :( I haven't gone back and pierced it again. I probably won't ever, even though I miss the little nose shininess sometimes ...

I think you and I have very similar weird things. The sound of silverware scraping on a dinner plate makes me want to scream long and loud. My kids are so used to me making up songs about their names at random moments that they do it for me now too. You were right, you looked good with the nose jewelry.

Toni! You are 41, gorgeous, a very sympathethical(?) bloguer, funny, golden crafter hands, fantastic imagination, funny sense of humour, fantastic skin, and 5 children!!! Can it get weirder???
Thanks again for sharing your weirdeness with all and each of us! We love your weirdeness!

funny,
on my 30th b'day i pierced my eyebrow
(it got caught on my son's sweater
and ripped it a bit, then it got
infected, i had to take it out)
just reading what you wrote about
nail on chalkboard...i'm getting
chills...ack.
i have to have light, lots
and lots of natural light.
great list, and i don't think you
are weird at all, obviously,
since i share 3 out of 5, teeheehee

that is the cutest picture of you EVER!
Why didn't I get a song bust out from you? I'm sure I would have joined right in. I remember my mom trying to sing some song in her best voice when I was a kid, picture me in the corner of the room, rolling my eyes. Emma does that now. OH well!

What is it about turning 40 and getting your nose pierced? When I turned 40, I got my nose re-pierced (i pierced it myself) and mine was definitely a mid life crisis, we've just moved to the burbs, omg moment and I didn't care. You should totally repierce your nose, it looks too cute on you not to.

I stumbled onto your blog, from a blog, from another blog, etc... I'm enjoying all the reading/creativity immensely. I think what you posted about yourself is very "normal" :)
