slippers + scarf

slippers

new slipps. love them--a lot! i made them using a pattern from one of my japanese craft books. i had every intention of showing you the book and the pattern, then i forgot. then the day just marches on, with no sympathy or offering to stop the clock so that i can catch up with all the things i forgot to do! i will show it to you sometime because i will be using this particular book again--several times. it's all about slippers--some darn cute ones too. this pair is made from thrifted fabrics--some grey wool and a green wool blend blanket. i love that. the embroidery detail is my own, just a smattering of a few pink daisies.

fabric scarf

this type of scarf is all over right now and i think they are just so cute. whenever i would think "scarf", it was always in terms of yarn. i never thought of fabric. originally, i was going to use the floral fabric with a solid brown backing and add a patchwork to one end with coordinating fabrics. i ended up loving the green/brown leaf fabric so much that i ditched my first plan and just used the two. this was the first time i utilized one of the many fancy stitches my machine offers. i love this detail but, i must say it takes forever! when you are used to driving in the fast lane with your straight stitch--these fancy ones feel like a diesel in the slow lane, going up hill. but anyway, i guess it was worth it.

Slippers + Scarf = Cuteness.

Your feet look so happy in those new cheery slippers--very pretty work! Happy Scarves, too! :oD

Beautiful Toni!

I can't imagine success at making my own slippers so I am quite impressed that you made them and love them!

I love the fabric on those scarves -- yum yum.

I love the green and brown fabric, too! Your projects look great!

Gorgeous scarf! I have a bunch of that same green and brown leaf fabric - it's one of my favourites. I'm usually so focused on making things for the home that it never clicked to make something to wear out of it!

you are looking quite cozy!

Both cozy and lovely. I ADORE the leaf fabric on the scarf!

Oooo, such pretty fabrics!

I have never thought about making a scarf out of material. I usually knit them but I may try it now after seeing yours. I love the border stitch. I have used that around throw quilts before.

Love those slippers. I think the embroidery is just the right feminine touch.

I love your new scarf! I agree, the deco stitches take forEVer to do. They do require patience, of which I am never in great supply. And the slippers are really cute. I need some new slippers...and I happen to have some felted wool sweater pieces sitting around here somewhere. Hmmm. =)

Love the special stitches, I'm inspired to try some of mine again. Love the slippers as well!

those slips! I love love them, even more that they were recycled. They look cozy. I love the scarf too, I just bought a similar fabric (thinking alike).

love love the slippers

Awesome! I love both the slippers and the scarf. So pretty!

The both look gorgeous and very comfy. I love the scarf fabrics :-)

Very cool slippers! I am in search of a pattern to do the same for myself!

Hey those slippers are just great, would love to be able to make my own slippers!
Fancy stitching really was worth it, lovely.

Gorgeous, gorgeous scarf! The slippers are fabulous too!

lovin the slippers... please do share the book details when you get a chance, :) I would love to make a pair myself.

definitively worth it! Love both.

definitively worth it! Love both.

LOVE those slippers, seriously... needing to make up that pattern for myself... I think I could make it up, right?
