remembering
Last night I had the luxury to leisurely look through the photos my son Micah took of our stay in Italy last Sept./Oct. There are soooo many I hadn't even seen yet. The boy took, I think, like almost a 1000 photos. (he was also there 3 weeks prior to Mark and I with my parents) I came across the one above and a flood of good feelings came over me. This is me taking pictures of sunrise in Praiano from the balcony of our villa. Sunrise people. I don't think I've ever taken a photo of a sunrise my whole life, but In Italy I took a ton. I was up before the sun with the time difference. The whole jet-lag thing proved to be quite a trial for me and the first 3 days there I was miserable with being tired during the day and wide awake all night long.
Anyway, back to sunrises...Micah often times would be out on the balcony with me (thus this photo) and the only sound was our cameras clicking and beeping. It was so incredibly peaceful and quiet. The sea was always calm and the breeze always gentle. I would just stand there gazing at all the villas along the hillside, all the tiny gardens that filled corners of earth, all the lemon and pomegranate trees and hanging laundry that didn't get brought in the day before. And I felt so thankful to be there. So, so thankful.
I knew Micah had taken pictures of Mark and I sitting on this rock at the marina, but again, I hadn't seen this one. So many good memories. I'm just very thankful for it all. Dad, I know you're reading this and I'm sending big hugs and kisses (again!) for giving all of us such a special gift.
While I'm on the subject of Micah's photos, I'll take yet another opportunity to brag about his talent :) He was the photographer for the wedding we were at last Saturday and he posted just a couple of those photo's on Flickr. Click here and here to Ooooo and Ahhhhhh with me!
