42 today
42 for me means:
A marriage 23 yrs. strong :: 5 beautiful children :: a fluffy kitty I adore and 2 funny finches :: wanting a new pair of glasses :: still obsessed with shoes :: not liking how old my hands look :: driving a totally cute Saab :: being the mom of a 21 yr. old and a 6 yr. old :: trying to accept the signs of aging--not doing to well :: thankful that I'm healthy :: wanting to grow my hair long again :: feeling more creative then ever :: stiff joints now and then :: wondering if one day I'll ever own a couch that I LOVE :: thinking more and more about staying fit :: wanting to go back to Italy :: loving quiet evenings at home :: loving my family, my friends, my savior :: loving life.

Happy Happy Happy birthday!! Love your list!! It sounds like you're enjoying life!

Happy birthday to you, Happy birthday to you, Happy birthday from a stranger, Happy birthday to you!
I remember 42 - now I am 57 soon to be 58. My oldest daughter has a 21 year old and a 7 old so I know how hectic your life must be!
Wanted to tell you last week how much I love your little black & white bird card!
And, I am glad to have found your blog. I love getting to know people. I'm kind of a "homebody" so to make friends and not leave home, that's pretty good!
Have a wonderful birthday and here's to
the next 42!! (or is that 30 with 12 years experience?!)

Oh, my b-day is Thursday! Happy birthday to you!!
I used to have a Saab but we had many problems and I will never buy one again. I think we just got a lemon. Shame because when I first got it I loved it.
Congrats on your b-day and a long lovely marriage, kids, and happiness. And hoping you have many more wonderful years ahead!

Happy birthday, Toni! Have an extra piece of cake for me... that looks scrumptious. Oh, and "old" looking hands are the best. Each line is a mark of love, creativity, action. A washed teacup, a clean bib hung up to dry, an embroidered bird. At least, that's what I tell myself, anyway, my hands are looking um... how should I put this... quite vintage?... and I'm only 36. :0)

Happy Birthday! Great list! My favorite: still obsessed with shoes! I am the same way, I have been obsessed with shoes for as long as I can remember and I don't see that ever changing. I have been drooling over Easy Spirit's fall shoes all afternoon on their web site! There are so many I have to have!

Best wishes for a wonderful birthday week. Or month. Or just eat a cake like that every day for the rest of the year! I would.

Happy Birthday!! I don't know if I have ever commented on your blog... but I have read almost all of your posts (or at least skimmed them) since finding you about a month ago. It has inspired me. I homeschool as well... and have similarly aged kids... one 18 and one 6 and a couple in between. Well, many happy returns on the day!!

I don't think I have posted before, but I have been lurking on here for sure. I loved your post on your son's wedding, and all your other posts on your beautiful children. I guess you are a fellow Libra! Happy Birthday! My birthday is October 4th and I'll be 45. I relate to a lot of what you said in this post. The more I age, my hands look like my mom's. I guess when you are in your forties you tend to want to be more fit for the next part of your life. Plus don't you find you can't eat like you use to, without something happening to you?! Anyway, Hope you have a very happy birthday.

Happy birthday! YOur pink cake looks so very festive and sweet.
I turn 41 in about 2 weeks so I can relate to most of your post!
May I say that you DO NOT look old enough to be 42 or to have a 21 year old child! You are doing just fine in the aging department!

Just turned 43, but have a 2 year old and a 20 year old (and a few in between), and been married a couple years fewer. Drive a Saab convertible and LOVE it! Long a little for the younger me, but wouldn't have missed a year to look younger or creak less. I see you feel the same way ~ and have every right to! I so enjoy readng your blog; you inspire me.
