just one square
(Edited to add: Oh please! Join in with any project. I didn't mean to be exclusive to granny squares :) Whatever you happen to be working on, just decide how many stitches, rows etc... to do a day. I won't be stressing out if I miss a day, so you don't either! This could work for any kind of project.)
I didn't have plans to post again for a couple of days, but as I was sitting in bed last night crocheting, I had a wonderful thought. I was telling myself --just one square Toni, just finish one square right now. Then I thought I should challenge myself to make one square a day, just one--at least-- until my granny blanket is done. And then I thought, why not ask others to join in! Are you making a granny blanket that is going slower then you'd like? Have you invested a pretty penny in yarn for your granny blanket (like I have) and the thought of it sitting and doing nothing for months on end makes you cringe? Then join me in my one square challenge--I would love the company! I want to put something up in my sidebar that says how many I've made so far and how many I have to go to keep me motivated.
Well, It's the end of the day--dinner is done--the house is tidy--and it seems like the perfect time to do one square--just one, Toni, just do one.

That's a great idea, but I don't know how! I can only do the crochet basics, nothing like yours. I should get a book or something and join the gang!

Oh Toni I would love to join you, but I am a knitter. I have made myself a promise to learn to crochet, maybe that time is now! :o) I may not be able to join you as yet, but I just might be in your next granny blanket making...I declare I will learn to crochet!
Smiles...

And how about "just one row"??? I have a rippled afghan that sits sad and lonely that I haven't picked up in months! :)

If a crochet hexagon counts - I´m in! Brilliant idea.

I am in!! I only have about 150 more to do then I will be done... gosh, that's a lot. Will be great to have something to keep me motivated.

How long does it take to "just do one?" Maybe I could join in with that much progess on my hexagon quilt since I don't do yarn thingees.

With my short attention span, I started making granny squares and then moved on to the striped afghan. Maybe I'll join you but do a square and a row a day- or one of each.

What a brilliant way to motivate yourself and others. I don't crochet so won't be joining you but I am working on a mountain of unfinished projects--one day at a time.

no, not making a granny square afghan, but I've been working on a patchwork blanket that is taking me f o r e v e r. Can I join in with one patchwork square a day?

I need to do this for my striped crochet blanket...just one stripe a day. :) thanks for the gentle push...I needed that.

Wow, you read my mind. I was crocheting on my couch last night watching terrible tv thinking if i just did a patch a day it wouldn't take over my life and I could work on other things too! It'll take me forever-but finished eventually! My project is a Sophie Digard knock off-crochet hexagons in lace weight wool. Talk about daunting-but I've wanted to do it for forever and everyone's crochet project have finally go me going on it! So I'll play along!
Thanks!

I'm doing a simple x-stitch. Last night I was saying to myself, "Just finish one more letter." :0)

OK, I'm in! Between your lovely squares and the 40 squares I saw over at Moonstitches, I absolutely must start some squares myself! I am going to do one a day:) I'll even post my first one, to prove I started, on my blog tomorrow ;) I can't tell you how long I have been wanting to make a blanket from granny squares. Thanks for giving me the push to do start it!

okay...i'm totally in if it doesnt have to be granny squares! I REALLY want to learn how to make them but right now with a three year old and a 1 year old finding time actually commit to learning something new just seems sooo overwhelming. can any other mommys relate?!
I am working on a quilt for my sister and then another one for my nephew and I need to get one square a day done until they are both complete!
thanks for the motivation toni! I love your blog. You are so real and you come across as such an approachable person. I feel as if I could come over, sit on your couch with a cup of coffee and just talk.
*please dont take that in a weird way! it's totally meant to be a compliment, I'm not a weird stalker lady ;) just a young mom who loves the inspiration I get from ladies like you!*

I would love to join in. I am new to crocheting, but slowly I am making progress.
Thanks, what a good idea!

That is a great idea. I have one more baby blanket (crochet) to make for Christmas - maybe I'll go with one row a day. I may get more then that done but at least it'll keep me on track!

May I join despite that...I don't have a blog ? I won't be able to post(and show) the progression of my daily work but, maybe sending you photos from time to time ?
You have my email...
I'm working on a blanket but with a different pattern for crocheting squares and I have a lot of "ufos" in patchwork I should finish...Maybe it takes me a challenge like this to work faster !

I tried a granny square once and it didn't like me. I rippled much better. Now I'm working on a straight row "pendleton" blanket afghan for my parents' new master bedroom suite. Most nights I do 3-4 rows but yesterday I got 7 of them!!! Wooohooo!

you can do this, really! last year i commited myself to make 2 little (3 1/2" each) log cabin blocks each day until i had the amount needed to make a queen sized quilt (which just happened to be darn near 700!). it was tough at times, but i stuck with it and finally got the top put together in february. now, to quilt it.
really, it becomes a habit rather quickly if you stick with it for a few weeks.

I'm in! I love to draw. My business is drawing, BUT I seem to also love to procrastinate. So I am going to commit to draw a new card a day, hopefully more. Thanks for the inspiration and the power in numbers.
