apple tart. yum.
I had some apples that were past the point of eating fresh. You know, they were getting pithy and basically very boring taste wise. Rather then toss them--which I hate to be so wasteful--I thought they would be pretty dang good with lots of sugar and cinnamon. Yeah, all that sugar would cover a multitude of flaws. I went over to Martha's place to look up some apple recipes. I use her site a lot. It's so quick and always has a nice variety of what I'm looking for. Anyway, this is the recipe I used for the crust. The filling was sliced apples and cinnamon and sugar (just eye-ball measurements) I sliced the apples super thin in my food processor, un-peeled, and I was quite happy with delicate texture for a change. I forgot to add some flour to the apple mixture for thickening, but all turned out well. My friend suggested that maybe because the apples were older and therefore not juicy--that's why I didn't have a soupy mess! I think she may be right. It was the perfect time to forget the flour--whew! I'm sharing this with you because the crust was amazing. amazing. You must try it, really. I will absolutely be making this again.
I'm so glad all the acorns found new homes! Thank you! If you were interested but didn't get one, I am thinking about doing one more round of them. maybe.Stay tuned.

mmm looks good :)

Ooh, I just made a very similar tart. Mine was a bit disappointing, so maybe I'll check out Martha's crust soon. Thanks!

Oh so delish!
I just made an apple tart like thingy from martha stewart that was to die for.
2cups floour + 2tsps cinn+2 sticks of butter cut in with pastry cutter. Press 2/3 of the mix into bottom of springform pan. Cut about 5 pounds of tart apples (I cute about 5 apples -a bit less) sliced thin-toss them with cinn and 2tsp lemon juice.
Add to spring form pan press down lightly-cover with rest of mixture. Bake at 350 in middle of oven with a lined cookie sheet on rack below.
So simple and so yummy!

I was just reading about tarts in one of the new holiday cooking magazines. All the recipes I'm seeing lately on blogs are making me feel famished all the time.

I love that fabric that you have underneath your tart. I made my mom a patchwork apron last year that featured one of the little rose bouquets: http://www.flickr.com/photos/geekxnerd/286784022/in/set-72157594410600565/
The tart looks super yummy!
