somewhat of a funk

I had my portrait done

I think Noah has captured my current state pretty well here. I was unaware that he was doing my portrait as I sat crocheting many nights ago (is this not hilarious?! i will treasure this little drawing forever) I'm in a bit of a creative funk around here. There are things I should be making--pillows for my couches, long promised pajama pants, that granny square blanket--and things that I want to make that only make me feel guilty for not working on the above said list. The problem is, I can't seem to get started. I'm  lacking umph right now. I make a feeble attempt and toss is aside very unsatisfied. It's a funk all right. Yes, you say--but you've just updated your shop? Yeah, yeah...that was with stuff I made during the summer--don't let that fool you.

And on top of that, for the first time I can't think of anything to say here! Usually I'm full of things I want to post about and the problem lies in which subject to choose. Now, I just feel blank. (refer to above portrait for visual illustration)

So--if I go missing here for a bit (i doubt this will last long, at least i sure hope it won't!) you'll know why. Just wanted you to know :)

I just came home from a brisk morning walk with my dog Nora to read that you're suffering a bit of the blahs. So sorry love. But "no worries" as we say around here. Just allow yourself to not create for the moment. It's not school or work, it's just for fun anyway. Right? So breath deeply, go get one of your precious kids to give you a really long, tight hug, the kind that almost breaks your ribs, and then go for a walk with your dog (you can borrow Nora, she's always ready to go :)

I am looking forward to shopping your etsy for Christmas presents though so I may have to resort to stronger measures should you not feel creative very soon! Just kidding :)

Be happy in the "not doing anything" today!

Cassie

Oh too cute! Remind me not to allow any candid portraits round here - too close to reality by half!

i know how you feel- i was definitely going through that for a while last month. i've found that projects that *must* get done (like special orders or birthday presents) often serve a good motivator because you're kind of forced to make something and that usually spins me into all kinds of inspiration.

but then again, sometimes, you're just not motivated and that's how it'll be for a little while. hope you find some inspiration somewhere soon- looks like you're surrounded by budding artists at home.

Come back soon! Your funk is probably life's way of "resting" you until inspiration strikes again and anew...

Maybe it's the time of year because I'm just coming out of a funky patch too. Hope it fades away for you soon.

I hear you! I just finished a project for Artsy Mama's Sweet and Sinister Swap and I felt a big sigh of relief that it was over. Now I can't get motivated to do much else!

I know what you mean. I am having a terrible time accomplishing things right now. I tried all weekend to get some projects started, but I couldn't do it.

Maybe a little break is what you need. You might just wake up tomorrow, or the next day, excited to work on something.

(Your son's drawing is hilarious!)

:) Karin

Love that drawing. Treasure it....it brought such a smile to my face....that's exactly how I feel some days.

Sometimes we all feel out of synch and a bit of a rest helps. You'll get your mojo back and all will be well again soon.

Yours is the second blog today (only read about eight) with a blahs, nothing to say confession. She too made a valiant effort and I know now I would rather have something, anything rather than nothing. You are that important to me. I experience it all the time myself and am so comforted to know I am not alone. All I can say is be good to yourself and this too shall pass. (My Mother in law used to say that to me alot, she was right everything does pass. Boy I miss her!)

that portrait is lovely. :) I love kids artwork.

hope you are feeling less funky soon.
I am feeling it a bit too, and I am pressing on, which brings disasterous results.

So sweet! Love the portrait :)

I can so relate... but in a different way. I have the blahs about getting out of my pj's, housework, homeschooling - but not my crafting. I have been knitting and crocheting and sewing - but can't get motovated to do anything else (I am doing schoolwork... don't want my boys catching my blahs :)

I love your blog - it inspired me to get creative again...

PS... the picture is priceless!!

Take a rest and you will soon be bursting with creative energy...nothing like a break and a walk along a beach to clear the old cobwebs away!!!
Suzie Sews
PS That picture is cool...you must embroider it on to something ...

Maybe you just deserve a little rest ? Maybe you have a "selfregard" a little too low?(even if you're doing, making, crocheting,"childrening", so much already)
Maybe just some sleep needed ? Or needing a little "health booster" ?(with iron and vitamins...)
Maybe I can give you just a big hug and tell you, that's allright, you don't have to be on the top every day !

I was blog surfing through my list of favs as I do almost everday and laughed outloud when I came upon your portrait. Thanks for the laugh Noah. You are a wonderful artist.
Don't fret, I'm sure your creative zing is just around the corner:)

LOL it's fabulous! He's captured 'the moment!'

Hope you're feeling better soon x

That drawing is hilariously apt, hope you feel better soon, although it sounds to me like you deserve a rest.

Hang in there, because I recently got out of one I'd been in for a while. Stuggling to find things to post/talk about is unusual for me, but it all finally came back thank goodness. Go enjoy your little artist instead (and how I love that portrait!!!). xo

Ack! That drawing is so cute! This is my first visit to your site and I've already bookmarked it. So lovely. I love your crocheted acorns and your pumpkin photo (below). Fabulous!

That portrait is a hoot! Oh, what a laugh! Sorry you're in a funk...Hope the muses will be visiting again soon! Happy weekend to you & yours ((HUGS))

Ok, get a good book, like one of the Susan Wittig Albert books about Beatrix Potter. Load up on a good multi vitamin, and maybe some trace minerals. Stir up a soothing pot of chicken soup. Have a long meaningless chat with your beautiful children. Say Hi to God. Take two pieces of chocolate, and call me in the morning... &:o)

That drawing is priceless!! It made me laugh out loud! Definitely a keeper!!
