bright and spontaneous

bright

When I was in my local fabric shop a few days ago these fabrics totally caught my eye. Turquoise and orange are predominate--whoa. Not my usual choices unless in small amounts, but right now I think these brights are just what the doctor ordered for the middle of winter. I'm loving them. As soon as I saw them I had an instant project in mind. Not the norm for me--shop now, think of what to do with it later--is more how I operate. I am *super* happy with how this spontaneous project is turning out and even more so that it's coming together on the quick side. (Thanks Mark for taking Noah for the day! xo.)

I'm getting closer to updating my Etsy shop (see note in sidebar) and have just a few more things to work out then I can show you what I've been up to over here. One of the "new directions" I've been wanting to pursue is my photography--so I'm very excited (and a lot nervous) to be offering 2 postcard collections with my next update. The images are near and dear to my heart (ones you'll recognize if you've been reading here for long) and it feels a little scary to put something so personal out there because it could get rejected! yikes. But if you never take any risks in life you probably never go anywhere either. I'm also exploring the world of small art quilts and a couple of those will be in shop as well. Also totally scary to put out there--but I want to challenge my comfort zone and see what happens.

For better or for worse, I do.  :)

Sounds like things are going well. Outside the comfort zone is scary, but I'm sure everything will turn out beautifully. Good Luck!

Those colors look like alot of fun to play with in tops or a dress for the girls I think. BTW, love the tights and shoes in the banner.

Good on your for pushing your personal boundries. I'd like to put some stuff out there too, and I've think you've just given me the encouragement I needed. Thanks and good luck.

How exciting---can't wait to see the new items in your shop. I'm sure they will be wonderful!

reminds me a bit of getting into a swimming pool. love em

How very exciting I have no doubt it will be a very successful venture...

Beautiful colors on that fabric! Way to go to push yourself. You'll do great. Your photos always inspire me, and I admire your perspective in your shots!

ohhh i can't wait to see all the new things you have in store for your shop update. everything you do is beautiful toni. i'm sure the postcards will sell out in a hot minute!

I'm with you! I'm re-doing our bathroom right now. I moved to NH to be with my boyfriend this past summer and his bathroom was formerly maroon, with no windows....ug. I'm painting the walls a light turquoise as we speak and am thinking of a nice, light orange for the hallway - a color I would have never considered before. Trendy, perhaps, but a bit of sunshine!

I love those colors! I can't wait to see what you are making!

I'm on the starting blocks ;)

Oh! I love spontaneous fabric purchases... I've been doing some *bright* fabric buying myself. I agree that it has something to do with the winter weather! :)

Can't wait to see your shop update... and the photographs sound lovely! :) Really can't wait to see those!!

love the colors

Can't wait to see it all, Toni! I'm completely positive it will be a big success.
