venturing out

postcards

I mentioned a few posts back that I was working on postcards made from my images and here they are! I'm pretty darn excited about this project. I think because it is something so totally different than what I have been doing creatively over the last few years--primarily working with fabric. My love for photography goes way back to my high school days when I took a class in it with my dad's 35mm Nikon film camera--that makes me feel so old! I still have some of those black and white images that I developed in the dark room and I can still smell those chemicals in my mind like it was yesterday!

For the postcards I've started with two collections: Handmade and My Clothesline (both subjects dear to my heart) from images I've taken throughout the last year or so. If all goes well, I plan to add to these collections and start new ones--already in the works is Things That Grow. The first 2 sets are ready to go!

Staying on the subject of venturing out, I mentioned that I had some exciting news to share. We're in escrow with a new home! It really is pretty amazing how all this worked out. It started with a conversation I had with the guy that cuts my hair. Long story. There are still some hoops to jump through so I'm holding this home with an open hand, nothing is final yet. When we found out the seller had accepted our offer we were really kind of stunned for two reasons: one, it was a low-ball offer and two: the house is a beast!! It will need some major work before we can even live in it. Now we were wondering if we really wanted to take on the monster. We decided we do and it will be worth it in the end. It has some real potential. Besides, all we can afford are the beastie types.

If this all works out I'll be short on time when it comes to blogging--but man! Will I ever have some before and after pictures to show you. Good grief :)

The postcards look great....always love your photos so it's a wonderful idea! Best wishes on the house. You always make everything look wonderful

Oh, but then you get the chance to houseblog! It's addictive... go over to houseblogs.net and there's quite a community. ("Delano Bungalow" is me.)

Plus, no matter how much a beast your house is, there's always someone who's got it worse there.

hey there! i love the way those postcards look in your shop (nice stickers too!)

Beautiful postcards! I'm a sucker for great photography.

Love your images and post cards - good luck

I love the new additions to the shop! The postcards are beautiful, and very professional looking. I was wondering actually, where you purchased your cellophane envelopes? Was it at a local store or online? I'm having a heck of a time finding a local place in Maine.
And as someone else mentioned those little simple sparrow stickers are precious!! Congratulations and Good work!!!
p.s. I hope you show lots of pictures of the house renovating...my husband and I will be buying our first house in the next year...and we can't afford anything more than a "beast" as well... you're so inpsiring I can't wait to see what you come up with!

I too have a soft spot for clotheslines. Your photos are lovely. Wishing you well with this new venture which suits you to a "T", and with "The Beast", fun times!

Wow! That IS some venturing out. Good for you. And remember: 'que sera, sera'. It'll all work out just fine, Toni. Great looking postcards!

Oh congratulations! I'm sure you will have fun taming the beast :) *fingers crossed for you*

The postcards look amazing, wow!

Very nice postcards!!! Love your packaging detail as well. Good luck with your new house...it will be worth it, and a lot of fun...you and your husband will be growing together, and not apart, with a big project to work on together!!! YEAH!!!

What a wonderful idea. I've been enjoying your blog and your beautiful photos. I've also tagged you but there's no pressure!

good morning!
i saw your quilts! they look awesome, and modestly priced, too! nice work toni! love em

Gorgeous postcards.

LOVE the cards! And best of luck on the "beast" from another beast-lover/hater...

What a great idea! I love how light and warm the photos are! I can't wait for it to get a bit warmer around these parts so that I can set up a clothesline in our back yard.

Can't wait to see some pics of the almost new house! Blessings.

Toni,
You're blog made my day and inspired me to make something homemade.
Brianna & I loved your Etsy Store!

Toni, that is great news about the house! You certainly will have lots of great photo opportunities! Your postcards are beautiful. I love the simple sticker and packaging! I am so behind on my blog reading! Your table runners are lovely, too.

Hi Toni,
I just wanted to let you know I just looked at the new framed mini quilts you have in your esty shop. They're beautiful. I hope you're still making new ones in about 5 years when I'm done with school and ready to decorate my own home. All of your work has such a sweet simple touch. It's inspiring.

your cards are lovely...

Hello !
Congratulations, your postcards are lovely ! (I have been reading your blog a lot lately, and your crocheted acorn has always been my favourite) Thank you for giving me the idea of making my own postcards from my own photos instead of always buying them !

Toni, first of all, these postcard images are gorgeous! Secondly, you didn't say anything about the house yesterday, I hope its going well! What's the word? xo
