not so simple
I credit this new banner to staying up much too late and zoning out on the computer playing with my photo editing program (which is so out of date it's not even funny) I like it, and then maybe not so much. There is this part of me that loves color and a lot going on--and then there is this part of me (the part that usually wins out) that really prefers things plain jane. Really, does simple sparrow seem like a total oxymoron up there with all those flowers, clouds, dots and Mr. Dear? Maybe he's looking for a way out of all that mess. Truth be known, this is a little battle that goes on inside my head several days a week. Sometimes I feel like I'm in a perpetual style crisis, wondering what in the heck it is that I do like? Too much is the answer. I like a lot of different things. Eclectic to the far left so to speak.
I don't know how long I'll leave this one up but for the moment it stays. Maybe I should sleep on it a night or two. I'm also amused that I can make a post out of all this. I credit that to staying up past my bedtime too.
edited: Ok, what do think about this one? I'm still on a spring banner kick here. I really should be using my free moments to get some sewing done--It's crazy how these things take over....

edited again!! Ugh, I'm going into a banner crisis now! I've put one up that feels much more comfortable to me. But don't be surprised if you see a new one up there in the very near future--I'm not set on this one either but enough is enough for now! I'm putting the original banner below so those of you who are just stopping by now will know what this whole crazy post is about :) Thanks for bearing with me and for your input!

I like it!! Its different and inventive :)
Also wanted to let you know that the drawing has been completed on the blog for the grand giveaway!! I am also holding a poll for another prize for the winning name. :) If you have a moment, stop on by and cast your vote!

Beauty isn't always simple.Remember He created all that up there on your banner I think He see's the beauty.
I am with you on the style crisis.I desperately want to be a less is more girl but know in my heart I am not.We should always follow our hearts don't you think? So long as our heart's in the right place of course!

Oh yes friend, I am always in a style crisis. I bounce back and forth between country living mag's country, modern, craftsman and vintage. I just can't decide to save my life. And I like the banner, but I never would have pegged you for a pink person. Love the little deer though.

I love the flowers and the picture of you. I find the deer a little disconcerting, but that is just me. :0)
You are SO smart to be able to do this. I really, really need to learn how. I have boring stock templates. :0(

I'm glad to see this problem put into print! I suffer from abundance/simplicity too. It is a struggle trying to balance decluttering with 'I want it all'. I still haven't figured it out! I think in decorating my house I have lost the battle and abundance won. However, I have pared my life down considerably. I think I just learned to say NO. Good luck in the fight, I'd like to see more of your thoughts on this.

Hello Toni,
I just popped up to say : if you like both colorful and plain jane things, why not reducing your two banners and putting them side to side into one banner ? I really like the new one, except for the huge pink flowers. I can also be a plain jane girl sometimes... well, often ;o )

Mr Dear looks out of place and the only other thing I could think of suggesting.... Is some how making your picture softer? Does that make sense? The flowers have rounded edges, even the print is rounded but the picture looks to square. Besides that it looks great. I really the color combination.

that's so funny, I thought I was the only one in a constant style-crisis! I'm not so sure about the new banner, but then I'm not a big fan of super-imposing. I like the second one better, the colours are lovely.

The one up there now is just gorgeous! I totally understand style schizophrenia (sp?). I wonder if I'll ever grow out of it. God just made too many beautiful things. Why should we have to pick? :)

I love the flowers and your pic and the font of the words, but feel that the deer is just somehow out of place. So the version without the deer gets my vote. (I feel bad saying that because I'm such an animal person, too!). But I love the new banner. Very Spring!

I really like the banner without the deer, however, the hydrangea is awesome too. I have this problem too, I like muted colors, but I also like bright colors as well. With all this said, simple, whichever color scheme you chose is always in style!

Hello, I thought I would put in an opinion now. I like the banner up there at the moment, the one with the blue background and the whie hydrangea. It just suits the name "simple" and I like the statement of the simplicity. The other is pretty, though without the deer. Give each one a trial run for a month each. Then see which one you feel is you.

Actually, I am having second thoughts.
I have just posted before. But I have changed my mind. I like the pink floral one the one without the deer. You seem to use a lot of blue, and the pink is a refreshing change. The white background with the pink flowers, is uplifting and a fresh. Go with the change Toni, go for it. It is lovely, this is the place to experiment.

I've been visiting your blog the for a little while and loved this post. Love that you spent so much time on the banner and then changed it to something completely different last minute! This is so me! As soon as I try something and commit to it, I second guess and fluster about trying to decide if I made the wrong choice. It's comforting to see I may not be the only one! :) Love your blog!!
