As part of my sprucing up adventures, a few circles. It feels really good to be doing stuff for my little home-sweet-home. Isn't this idea so great? I think one could never tire of it. Just switch out the fabric and it's all new again (i didn't use any glue on mine). Thank you Purl Bee for sharing it, bravo!
I was having a time trying to get decent pictures of these hoops, I tell ya. The natural lighting on this wall is so pretty, but try to photograph it and it sticks it's tongue out at you! I think I took about 50 before I decided these would do. I don't have time to take that many photos! I need to get it right in about 10 shots or less :)
Tonight, I clean out my laundry room (oh yes, I lead an exciting night-life) and that's the end of my organizing and clean up. Then, the fun stuff! New pillows for the couch, a new curtain for my kitchen window and a couple of table runners. That should be just about right.
Ugghh. This picture is so blurry, but it was the best out of all the group shots. I knew you would want to see all of them together so I didn't want to leave it out. I'm so happy with my little grouping here. I highly recommend this for your sprucing up list. Find a spot somewhere in your house for a few circles.
For pink and red Saturday I'm a day late and only have some pink to show for it. This is my sugar bowl, in all its pink, vintage glory.
How is everyone doing on use what you have month? Are you hanging? I think the hardest thing for me to forgo is the thrift shopping. Thrift shopping is such a part of my day to day life. Even though I look for all kinds of things when I go, it is just too tempting to not check out the wool sweaters, linens and other textiles for crafting with!! So I'm steering clear. I'm seeing it as a good discipline for me. All I have to do is look at my out-of-control-pile of thrifted things and 'use what you have' makes a lot of sense once again!
So, back to using what I have, here is my latest creation---sleeve kitties.
A couple of posts back, I showed you this bag that I made from a thrifted knit sweater. I was coo-coo about the stripes and colors and after the bag was finished, I had 2 long stripey sleeves that needed to be made into something. Several thoughts went through my mind, but I settled on these kitties. I'm a cat lover and the most lovable fur ball you will ever meet lives in my home. The kitties have button eyes, floss mustaches whiskers and each with a different little something---a bell collar, a fish necklace, a daisy or a posie. I stuffed them with poly-fill and rice, so they have a bit of a beanbag feel to them. The rice also helps them stand up.
I want to do something fun and to practice some random acts of kindness like Autum has been doing. I want to give away the twin sisters.
Like Blair did in celebration of her 100th post, leave a comment here and tomorrow night (Monday 10th) at 8:00 pm, (pacific standard time) I will draw 2 names from the comments and send them each a sleeve kitty..just because!
Of the other two, one will be going to a certain birthday girl , and the other might just be staying here with me. Although, I'm really hoping to earn a little extra cash too, so you might see it for sale--maybe. I'm sure there will be more of these in the future, I have a lot of sleeves :)
