an evening walk

evening walk

Freezing fingers, but the cold air makes me feel alive. Are you ever thankful that you are able to breathe deeply? I am.

Walking fast to stay warm, but I keep stopping to take pictures.

Patient husband.

We talk about our day, of what bills need to be paid, just chatty stuff.

A little cottontail hops past.

Do we really live in such a beautiful place? We do. Forever grateful.

Back home to happy kids eating--a friend brought us dinner.

How very nice.

Pumpkins are a happy thing

Don't they just make you smile all piled up like that?

I love pumpkins. They make me happy with their pudgy round shape--often coming in oddball sizes and quirky forms. Their cheerful orange color is, well, just that--cheerful! I'm going to confess something, just like Alicia did a little bit ago---I.do.not.like.Halloween. We just don't get into scary stuff around here--even in mild forms. But! I do love Autumn and all that it brings--especially chubby, glowing pumpkins.

An afternoon hike

hike1

Ahhh...the great outdoors. I love, absolutely love, to get outside and breathe deep, move my body and take in the beauty that surrounds me. Sometimes I want to do that alone, and other times I want to share that with my family. This was a family hike and so much fun! It was pretty mellow so Noah did just fine, although it was a decent walk too..about 4 miles. Mark and I had 2 out of our 5 kids with us this time, Nathan and Noah. An impromptu sword fight broke out.....Boys and sticks, it just happens :)

The sweater Noah is wearing below I picked up at the thrift on Saturday. It's wool, and I thought it would make a great stuffed robot with those stripes. But, he has been smitten with it and now I'm not sure I can cut it up! Why now? He has always hated to have to wear a jacket or sweater of any kind. Then again, he is putting this on without a fuss..hmm..what's a mother to do?  Maybe his love affair will end soon and I can get excited about making him a robot. It does look awfully cute on him though :)

Beautiful children, beautiful scenery....

So beautiful at the bay today...

I took Hannah and Noah for a quick jaunt to play on the rocks and to give the seagulls the remains of some stale crackers that got left in the car...

chunkygreenscarf

I finished another scarf, this time with my wonderful, super chunky alpaca wool. I looooove this green! The wool has been hand-dyed and has subtle color variations...great depth. Did I say I love this yarn? ;) I made a felt flower pin to go with the scarf. Or maybe not. It's just a pin, so you could take it or leave it. It does look really cute wrapped around your neck, or as a shoulder wrap with the pin holding it in place. You might find this one in my little shop, unless I decide to keep it. Did I tell you I love that yarn? Oh ya, I did. :)( PS: The flower pin is not so bright looking in person. I had to use the flash cause I took the pic. at night..not my first choice, but that's when I got time!)

We have lots of company coming and staying through the weekend, so I may not be around much in the next few days. I'll pop in if I can!

It was a very unseasonably warm day today...82 degrees. After we finished school we headed out to the beach...wouldn't you have too? :)

I'm over here too
