at a loss...somewhat

Macro challenge day 15 (I'm so woefully behind)

I'm feeling a slight lack of direction here on my little bloggy-o. I have not had any time and little desire to sew. I've tried without success to get that pink bird project finished and I'm just not sure what to talk about here! It's strange--I have maybe only once or twice in all of my blogging days felt this way and it left rather quickly. This time...um...not so quick. I do foresee an extended blogging break--maybe starting in summer, not sure (although I'm pretty positive I will keep my photo journal going) Noah has a little project that he is very excited about sharing so there's that to post about and I have NOT given up on the pink bird project--although no promises on when that will happen. I've already taken note that I'm not good a keeping those here, ahem. So, I guess I'm asking you to please bear with me through this. I'm not sure I can keep up right now.

Instead of something crafty today, I'm offering some laughs. I hope these make your stomach hurt as much as they did mine!

Thank you for the warm welcome over at my new photography journal--to those who left a hello, to those who looked silently and to those who sent me personal emails. Your support of my creative efforts means so much to me. Did you notice the new button I made and put in my side bar? Geez, it only took me over an hour to figure out how to link it (I won't tell you how many times I read the Typepad directions on how to do that ) but there it is. I also added a link next to the macro challenge button where you can see all the photos I've taken so far for the month. I think I just posted my favorite yet.

We spent the afternoon yesterday with a picnic in the most beautiful wildflower fields. They went on for acres and acres and acres. Really quite stunning. All this springtime loveliness has inspired a new little something I hope to work on in the next day or two and, Noah and I have a little business venture together in the works--more on that later.

Have a super weekend friends!

i have 2 blogs now

I'm just barely getting this macro posted to be on time--this is photo 9 out of 30, 21 more to go! This picture was a point and shoot without me looking through the viewfinder. Sometimes my favorite photos are taken this way. I really love how this one turned out. I think I'm going to post a link in my side bar if you care to see all the photos I'll be taking for this challenge--but I won't be posting each one here, just some. There are other things I'm itching to blab about and not all of it will coordinate with my macro shot for that day. I can be silly this way, just ask my husband. I like to have neat little piles of this and that and not all jumbled up :)

While I'm on the subject of pictures and stuff, I've started a new blog. Actually, I'm calling it my photography journal. It's that pile thing I mentioned above. I'm wanting to separate my photography into it's own little home--a place to talk photography and of course to post lots of pictures while I learn. If you have any interest in this subject I would love for you to join me there! AS I SEE IT.

catch up

7.30

I'm playing catch-up here for the last 3 days of the macro challenge.

1. 5.30 The bird lamp that sits by our computer.

2. 6.30 The hydrangea bush Mark gave me several years ago.

3. 7.30 The best kitty in the whole wide world.

Happy Monday!

(Thank you for your kind comments on the pocket tutorial! It was really fun to do, mostly because my boys make me laugh so... That was just one of several ways to make a tidy pocket. I think I'll try what others have done and that is to sew up 3 sides, then turn and stitch--sounds even better! Either way, they both make for a pocket that is much better then what I had been doing.)

Some of my necklaces, most of which I've made. I don't make jewelry very often but I will tell you that I love it! Instant gratification (at least with my very basic beading skills :) and something pretty and all your own to wear around your neck.

I didn't think when I started this macro challenge that I would be able to post a photo everyday, so far I'm keeping up--much to my surprise!

-------------------------------------------------------------

You'll never guess what I did yesterday! With the help of my sons I made a video tutorial! After seeing Cassie's on how to make a slip knot and Amy's on machine sewing bias tape , it gave me the courage to try one when I discovered a nifty little tip while sewing last weekend. I'll get that up here soon...

bowing

It rained this morning. I'm pretty sure my daisies were happy about that.

raveling + bows = new love

new tote

I'm feeling a little obsessed these days with ravel-y fabric bows, I want to stick them on lots of everything! Just for the record, I'm not a bow person. I probably sound like a liar because this new tote I made over the weekend is sporting not one but three!!  Maybe the fraying edges make them seem not so fluffy and sweet I guess. Whatever it is, yay!! for fraying fabric bows! This tote will eventually make it into my shop, possibly by the weekend.

A macro challenge

Karin of Orange Flower has started a 30 day macro photo challenge that I'm taking part in. It's been so very long since I participated in any group thing--feels good to jump in with the others. I know I won't be able to post a photo everyday and sometimes I'll combine my photo with other posts because I like to talk a lot--but I'm going to post a macro shot as often as I can for the month. Here's my first one--a tad trippy but I like it.  And I have never taken a macro shot of my face by the way (not really a good idea when your 42..ahem..speaking for myself of course) but, this is a challenge so I'm trying new things.

It's perfect that this post should come after my last one, because this darling girl here is Ginger--Ruby's little sister. Emily popped over yesterday with her girls while they were out on a walk and Ginger's outfit just about killed me with a cute-attack! You see, she picks out her own clothes each day and Em says that she always needs a hat and a purse. Such a proper little lady she is. Check out that orange beaded bag!! gah, I want it! I HAD to snap a few photos and Ginger was very obliging. I think you'll agree this 3 year old is a fashion icon. My favorite details? How she's holding the bag and how her sweater sleeve is covering her hand.

My son Micah did all the color editing on these. I wanted to see how his program works and I'm sold. My editing program is so ancient--I think I can almost here it sputter and spit when I open it up.  I would really love to pursue photography more but I get so discouraged on how expensive it can be. Even just to get a decent start. ho-hum, one day. It's always rolling around in my head. Just maybe he'll let me use his program for special pictures--maybe--and then I'll be one teeny step farther along ;)

just in time

spring postcards

I'm tired, but I did it. I kept my goal of updating my shop today. Never mind that it's after 10 p.m. A goal reached is a goal reached I say. I would love to stick around and chat with you all but I'm headed for my very comfy memory foam mattress and electric blanket...

Peek into the...yawn (i really did yawn just now)...SHOP if you have time. There you will find my new SPRING TOTES and 2 new POSTCARD SETS , all in time to celebrate spring.
